  • TABLOID

    TABLOID

Tabloid chronicles one of the most juicy newspaper scandals of the 1970s. The film - by Academy Award-winning documentary maker Errol Morris - gives a voice to Joyce McKinney, a former beauty queen who travelled to Britain from Utah in search of the man she hoped to marry, but whom she believed had been kidnapped by a branch of the Mormon church. McKinney herself was subsequently accused of abduction and was imprisoned for three months in Holloway Prison, and when her past was uncovered the story became a sensation. But is McKinney's own version of her life story to be trusted, and what does the film teach us about the power of the mass media?
