    This is David’s first time presenting Songs of Praise although he’s no stranger to the programme , having judged the School Choirs competition. Through the early 1980's David Grant was the vocalist for the Brit-Funk duo Linx. The partnership with bassist Sketch provided four Top Twenty singles between 1980 and 1983 as well as a silver album with "Intuition".

    When the band split in 1983 David went on to have a very successful solo career as a musician and TV presenter.

    Jericho Road Project
    The Jericho Road Project is a joint church initiative supporting those involved in the sex industry in Nottingham. The project has been running for over ten years and is making a difference in women’s lives – showing love and helping them to leave prostitution.
    Rebecca Hamilton, the volunteer manager, discusses how the project works and former prostitute ‘Ruth’ talks about how she was helped off the streets.

    St Nic’s Church
    Our host church, St Nics, is being brought up to date to serve a 21st century congregation. David meets the Reverend Steve Silvester and congregation member Martyn Paradise to discuss the impact the re-build will have on the church community and the wider city. We also hear from the congregation as they see the nearly-finished church for the first time.

    Nottingham Youth For Christ
    Richard Dawson founded Nottingham Youth For Christ 10 years ago working with young people across Nottingham, resourcing schools, churches and young people in passing the message of the Gospel to others in the area. Since 2001 Nottingham YFC has worked with over 5,000 young people in the area.

    Steve Thompson
    Steve Thompson arranged and music directed the worships songs for this programme.

    Steve and his wife, Velveta have served in the music ministry for over 28 years. After going away to study at Bible College they both went on to work with Graham Kendrick, in production, song writing, conferences and overseas ministry.

    Steve and Velveta are also known for their worship leading, seminar teaching, song writing, music directing and accompanying various international worship leaders and secular artists.

    As well as Steve being a lecturer at London School of Theology, both Steve and Velveta are now a part of the City Gates Christian Centre staff serving as Musical Directors & Worship Pastors.

    Paul Leddington Wright (Congregational Conductor)
    Paul Leddington Wright is a freelance conductor, composer, arranger and organist, and is internationally known for leading choral workshops and writing commissions.
    Organist and Director of Music Coventry Cathedral (1984-1995).
    Conductor of Saint Michael’s Singers, Coventry Cathedral.
    Artistic Director, International Church Music Festival.
