Every eight hours someone in the UK becomes spinal cord injured. Spinal Cord Injury is a physically and psychologically devastating experience that can last a lifetime. Spinal cord injury can happen to anyone - the major causes are road traffic accidents, falls and sporting injuries.

The Spinal Injuries Association runs vital services to ensure that people affected by spinal cord injury can live as confidently and independently as possible after this traumatic experience. Peer support is one of their vital services offered in the early days after injury, helping people to adjust to life after paralysis and demonstrating how people can rebuild their lives after this devastating change.
