Sir Terry Wogan eases you into your Sunday lunch with music and musings. This week, he chats to actor Larry Hagman and Joe McElderry, and Hayley Westenra gives a stripped-down performance.
American TV and film actor and director Larry Hagman is best known for playing JR Ewing in 80s soap opera Dallas and Major Anthony "Tony'" Nelson in the 60s sitcom I Dream of Jeannie. After a time serving in the US Air Force, Hagman started performing on the stage in New York and on television and made his film debut in Ensign Pulver (alongside a then-unknown Jack Nicholson). His now 55+ year career has seen him appear in more than 50 television series and more than 40 movies and TV movies.
New Zealand soprano and crossover singer Hayley Westenra began performing when she was just 6 years old and made her first recording in a professional studio at the age of 12. She was only 16 when she released her debut international album, Pure. It rapidly became the fastest-selling debut album from a classical artist, and was certified by the official UK chart compilers as the best-selling classical album of the 21st century. Her albums have sold more than four million copies worldwide to date and her new album, Paradiso, for which Hayley collaborated with renowned Italian composer Ennio Morricone, is due for UK release in August.
