  • POEM

Today there will be no witty ditty
    Speaking of prosthetic blood
Lying on the pile of the Fleet Street carpet
No clever sub textual slinging of mud

There will be no police investigations
    No self-referential media hype
    No Machiavellian misanthropy
No trawling the tea leaves of wrong versus right

So put down your screaming news source
Un hand your computer, lend us your ear
For this is Saturday live and you can come out now
For an hour at least the coast will be clear

  • POEM :: MEMORIES

Beyond the practicalities what is the use of Memory?

    You dressed in blue
    No, it was Green

Ah when the music meets the ear
And forms the join from far to near
From deep within the simmered pot
    Of all forgot and unforgot

Brings forth the thoughts of that which was
On further to our own because
    Though fairytales of dragon fire
The mermaid song and chieftains pyre

The brave old world before the oil
Of man and beast and honest toil
Of gold an jewels across the sea
Of slaving ships and gallows tree

    You dressed in green
    No, it was black

Those memories all and twist swirl
Like smoke they shift and ferns uncurl
Into the present wheel they spin
The curve gets steep the air gets thin

The stakes increase in thickened time
As chaos skews the ancient rhyme
    Yet memories from wisdoms store
Cannot out beat the drums of war

    Cannot out think the DNA
Cannot out match the soldiers pay?
Cannot shake off the ancient rhyme
Cannot out run the sands of time

    You dressed in Black
    No, it was white

Beyond its practicalities what is the use of memory?

To know that all and each is true?
That whom we touch and what we do?
Is but to know played our part
    Within the journey of heart

Beyond the practicalities what is the use of memory?

Conspiring with the when and how
To leave us in the hear and now

    You dressed in white

    No it was red

    Red?

    Yes, Red

Oh yes, I remember it well
