Panorama meets Lindy Griffiths, a 52-year-old teacher whose post with Rochdale Council's school improvement team was axed last year when funding ran out. Since then Lindy has struggled to find work.
Michelle Macreavy tells Panorama'a Fiona Phillips of the toll that a full-year of job-hunting has taken on her 57-year-old husband. Andrew Macreavy has applied for almost 500 jobs and had seven interviews in his attempt to get back into the workforce after being made redundant from his management job.
