Synopsis

Mike Harding presents an hour of the very best in folk, roots and acoustic music, including a chat with Scottish Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis.

Julie is one of the most successful and acclaimed folk artists to come out of the Scottish scene in recent times. Heralding from North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, she sings in her native Gaelic with an exquisite voice and is also an accomplished musician.

On tonight's show, she joins Mike down the line from Inverness to talk about her recently released album, Live at Perthshire Amber.

Recorded on stage on the opening night of Dougie MacLean's Perthshire Amber festival in October 2010, the album captures Julie and band on fine form at the end of a busy summer schedule.

Julie tells Mike what went into making the album, and we'll also hear music from it, including her duet with singer, songwriter and festival organiser Dougie MacLean.
