Episode 3

Kim Howells picks up the extraordinary story of Welsh art in the 1940s. The Second World War had a lasting effect on art in Wales through émigré artists like Josef Herman and Heinz Koppel.

Ceri Richards was still a huge influence, as was the Cardiff School of Art and the Rhondda group, and all over Wales artists such as Kyffin Williams, John Elwyn and Brenda Chamberlain were finding new ways of capturing their Wales.
