In our prayers tonight we ask God to help all who are mourning a loved one and those who feel broken by life. May they experience God’s comfort in the comfort of their friends.

May God hear the prayers of those who feel cut apart from their family or their community. We pray that God will help you and that you in turn will be able to reach out and accept that help.

During these very cold and lonely weeks after Christmas, we pray God to inspire able bodied people to look after and care for frail people who may not be able to look after themselves. May God reward those who bring comfort to those in need.

At the beginning of the year we like to pray for peace. May peace prevent wars, help neighbours and families to come together and may each of us experience deep peace within our souls.

We ask this and all our prayers through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

We ask God to bless each of us in the places of our lives which needs most healing.

Bless our loneliness, may it help us to reach out to others and may God’s spirit take away the pain of being alone.

Give to those who feel a failure with success and a sense of their own worth.

Bless the sick with healing and the depressed with hope.

Bless us all with good health, warmth and happiness.

And may almighty God bless us all in this life and in the next. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
