Jamie Cullum showcases his love for all types of jazz, and music rooted in jazz, from its heritage to the future.

This week, the American jazz, soul and funk musician Lonnie Liston Smith performs at the BBC's Maida Vale studios for Jamie, with a session that includes his 1970s hit Expansions.

In an entertaining interview, Lonnie also talks about working with the likes of Roland Kirk, Keith Jarrett and Miles Davis, and sings the praises of the talented band he is working with today.
