Coming Up
The number of people diagnosed with HIV in the South East has increased by 230 per cent.
Brighton has the largest number of people diagnosed with the disease and it has the second highest number of people living with HIV outside of London.
As new treatment is enabling people with the disease to live longer, Brighton and Hove PCT says it spends between £250 and £350k on each individual's treatment during their lifetime – a total of around £20 million each year.
But as NHS bosses are trying to find savings to their budgets, is the cost of paying for treatment for HIV patients too high and would or should it be cut?
Joining us will be Diane Abbott MP, Shadow Health Minister; and Scott Roberts, from Gaydar Radio.
Also, Louise Stewart, BBC South East Political Editor spoke to Ed Miliband during his visit to Gillingham on Saturday. We have the interview.
Joining us in the studio will be Richard Darlington from Demos and Dr Tim Bale from the University of Sussex.
