With a train fast approaching, Ryan gets Lily out of the car and carries her to safety. Janine can’t open her door, and desperately tries to start the car. The engine finally springs to life and the car lurches off the crossing moments before a train thunders past. Ryan’s furious, he’s taking them home. Back at the Slaters’, Jean’s hysterical after discovering Lily’s empty cot. Alfie calls the police. When Pat learns that Lily’s gone, she suspects Janine, especially when Ricky realises his car keys have gone. The police ask the Slaters who was at the party. Stacey suddenly realises Janine could have taken the baby, runs across the square barefoot and starts hammering on her door. There’s no answer. Eventually Janine answers the door and Ryan appears behind her holding Lily. Janine claims Lily was crying and she took her to the flat for some peace and quiet. Stacey’s not convinced and tells Ryan if she finds out it’s a lie, he’ll never see Lily again. Pat tells Janine her behaviour’s going to push Ryan into Stacey’s arms. Ryan’s furious with Janine, Janine hits back, why did he save Lily instead of her at the level crossing? Ryan walks out.
Someone’s painted ‘Slapper’ across Max’s front door. Max assumes it’s Jay’s handiwork but Vanessa’s convinced it was Harry. This is confirmed when posters appear around the Square, featuring a naked Vanessa and the word ‘Slapper’. Later, Darren finds Harry at the Car Lot, spray can in hand. Harry tells Darren that he’s not Jodie’s father, while Vanessa confides in Max. Vanessa’s adamant, Jodie must never find out.
Alfie tells Kat the Vic’s ready, they can move in tonight.
