Should prostitution be more socially acceptable?
I work with women who want to exit prostitution. Women are rarely in prostitution out of choice. It is a choice out of no choice. Prostitution should be seen in the same way as other forms of sexual violence. There is a victim. We can never accept prostitution is 'a job like any other' when there is a victim who needs to recover - just like we cannot accept child abuse, domestic violence and all the other forms of violence that society needs to protect the vulnerable again.

We seem to forget that men are also in the prostitution 'industry' both gay and straight. Does the same 'moral' argument apply?
Chris, London
Prostitution removes a huge amount of money from the economy, and I guess in most cases transactions are made in cash, with no consideration of income tax or national insurance, yet these same people receive the benefits of our welfare state etc., use the NHS services probably more than us, and tie up police resources etc. I wonder if a state run brothel were opened, advertising the minimum wage, and legitimate tax & NI payments, would you get any takers.

People tend to refuse to accept that some women do choose to work as a prostitute. I don't understand why charging for sex is wrong and going to a pub, getting drunk and having sex with a stranger is socially acceptable.

Are we soft on Islam?
As a Sikh I am so glad that someone has made a stand in a Christian country to stand up for their beliefs. We as Sikhs came over to England, worked and never expected the country to change for us- why are Muslims demanding so much. England is too soft on Muslims and they are taking over this English country. I am so happy someone has said aloud what everyone is thinking.
Sarwan
I totally agree with Mehdi, I am an atheist and believe that we are definitely not soft on Islam! People just need to accept the fact that the UK is a multicultural nation! The negative image portrayed by prominent people and media organisations in the UK is bordering on victimisation and discrimination!
Ryan, Bournemouth
Islam doesn't get special treatment. If Christianity doesn't respect itself only it is to blame. I'm Christian but I respect other religions and cultures and their belief. Islam has its own principles and beliefs. Maybe we should take ours more seriously. Than others will.

Should we allow gay marriage in church?
I am gay and do NOT think gay marriage in church should happen.
It is further breakdown in conventions and standards and whilst I accept I am gay, I do NOT believe the teachings of the church should be just torn up to suit a vocal minority.
Mike, Guildford
In my opinion homosexual people should be allowed to marry in a church, and Christians should accept that. Homosexuals are no different to us, they still live the same way and so I don't see any problem with it.

I am both a lesbian and a Christian and I am upset that when the time comes I will be unable to proclaim my love in the eyes of god. I love my faith but I am also proud to be openly gay.
Hannah
I don't have a problem with the idea of gay marriage, however I think until such time as each denomination of church changes it's teaching to no longer class homosexuality as a sin, it would be hypocritical for that church to allow a gay marriage within it.
