Synopsis

Jon Sopel and Martyn Oates tell the whole political story from Downing Street to viewers' streets.

BEEF FARMING

Farmers leaders are calling on the government and europe for a clear price commitment from retailers if they are to remain in business.

The NFU says many small beef producers are starting to seriously question their future.

But others within the industry say the power of the supermarkets needn't threaten their businesses and farmers must grasp new opportunities.

It comes as the government presses ahead with plans to create a supermarket ombudsman to monitor the relationship between retailers and producers.

MINIMUM PRICING

Binge drinking and the health and crime problems it causes is one of the big social challenges we face today.

In Scotland there are plans to introduce minimum unit pricing for alcohol.

Now one South West MP wants the same initiative in England.
