Synopsis
Friday Night is Music Night -Penny Smith hosts the grand final of Radio 2's Kiri Prize - a search for a new opera voice for the future. In the concert recorded at London's Mermaid Theatre - Martin Yates conducts the BBC Concert Orchestra as the five semi finalists battle it out to sing at this year's BBC Proms in the Park.

About Shuna
Soprano Shuna Scott Sendall has won The Radio 2 Kiri Prize - Radio 2’s nationwide search with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa to find an opera star.
Shuna’s winning performance consisted of Dich, teure Halle from Wagner’s Tannhäuser and Morrò, Ma Prima In Grazia from Verdi’s Un Ballo In Maschera.
Shuna was one of five singers to reach the Final of the Radio 2 Kiri Prize. Each performed two arias and was accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra, conducted by Martin Yates. They were judged by Dame Kiri, mezzo-soprano Anne Howells, conductor Robin Stapleton and director John Cox.
As part of her prize Shuna will join Dame Kiri Te Kanawa at BBC Proms in the Park in London’s Hyde Park on Saturday 11 September in front of an audience of thousands.
Shuna, who is from Glasgow, is also invited to attend a three-week residential course at the Solti Te Kanawa Accademia in Italy.
