Synopsis

Bob celebrates the 40th Anniversary of his first broadcast on BBC Radio 1 on August 19th 1970. Guests tonight include Robert Plant, playing tracks from his forthcoming album 'Band of Joy', Andy Powell of Wishbone Ash (who played in session on that first programme), Steve Winwood recorded at Maida Vale and Brian May from Queen phoning; plus other very special music guests and recorded messages from Walter Trout, Joan Armatrading, Peter Gabriel and Nanci Griffith. Bob will also be playing favourite tracks from his life and the extraordinary guests he has championed during the decades. Plus Bob plays the last of our specially recorded Richard Thompson session tracks.
