Gynaecologists and Obstetricians Poll
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists is calling for an overhaul of maternity services. A number of doctors who were polled in a survey said there were too many NHS managers and not enough midwives. Many were concerned that the European Working Time Directive was leading to a reduction in the amount of training for junior doctors. They were also critical of NHS targets, and worried about the challenges they faced in the future – from rising birth rates and complex pregnancies, through to an increase in what their patients expected from them. Dr Maggie Blott, Vice President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and Hugo Mascie-Taylor, Medical Director of NHS Confederation, join Jenni.

How to Write the Perfect Personal Ad
Would you struggle to describe yourself to an absolute stranger? One third of people under thirty-five are using online dating sites to meet people; requiring them to work their way through a minefield of adjectives and clichés to write their perfect profile to find their perfect partner. But are we the best judges to write our own personal descriptions? Or could we all use a Cyrano de Bergerac to smooth the way for us? Joining Jenni are Amanda Christie, Managing Director of MySingleFriend online dating agency, and Sonali Fernando, filmmaker and author of ‘Soulmates: True Stories from the World of Online Dating’.

Sonja Sohn from the hit series ‘The Wire’
‘The Wire’ was one of the most acclaimed series in the history of television – despite the fact it never broke into the mainstream. Barack Obama described it as one of his favourite programmes and its fans in Britain laud it as the best thing on TV for decades. It told the story of Baltimore’s drug gangs and the police who try to trap them. One of the main characters was Detective Kima Greggs, played by Sonja Sohn. She’s now taken a break from acting and has set up an organisation to help young people in trouble. This week she’s been in Liverpool, visiting a similar project, aimed at getting people to read.
