  • Sue Steward's Photography Choices: Grace Kelly: Style Icon

This exhibition features forty gowns worn by the legendary star in movies such as High Society and Rear Window.

The dresses are displayed on mannequins and they are matched in photographs, film posters and clips to create a documentary effect. The highlight of the exhibition is the lace wedding gown Grace Kelly wore for her real life marriage to Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956.

Grace Kelly: Style Icon runs until September 26th and London's V&A Museum.

  • Guernsey Photography Festival

This is the first ever exhibition of its type on Guernsey and it has been set up around a huge white photo-cube in the market square of St Peter Port.

The exhibitions include: Joseph Koudelka's photographs from Invasion of Prague ’68. Tim Hetherington: Liberia Retold and Sleeping Soldiers. Simon Norfolk: Afghanistan, Chronotopia and JUDAH PASSOW: Shattered Dreams.

The Guernsey Photography Festival runs until May 29th

  • Maurice Broomfield: A New Look At Industry

This Derby born photographer single-handedly documented post-war British industry and urban regeneration in Britain.

His work encompasses shipbuilding, steel-making and the manufacture of nylon by photographing the machines and the operators, all on a huge scale.

Maurice Broomfield: A New Look At Industry runs at the Silk Mill, Derby until July 11th.

  • Miroslav Tichy at the Michael Hoppen Gallery.

This self-taught Czech photographer was imprisoned for eight years after the Communist takover in 1968.

His subjects were always youngish women who were unaware he was photographing them and he depicted ordinary, everyday events such as walking in the street, sunbathing, talking or just having a coffee.

Mirsolav Tichy at the Michael Hoppen Gallery, Chelsea runs until May 29th

  • August Sander: People Of The Twentieth Century

This early 20th century German portrait photographer is best known for his monumental project People Of The Twentieth Century which he began in the early 1920’s.

This series of black and white portraits aimed to document contemporary German society. The project grew to around 600 photographs classified into seven categories: The Farmer, The Skilled Tradesman, The Woman, Classes & Professions, The Artists, The City and The Last People.

August Sander: People Of The Twentieth Century runs at Tate Modern, London until September 7th.

  • Bruce Davidson Subway Series

Bruce's subway series documents life in the New York subway during the eighties, recording the animated energy of train carriages and station platforms across the metropolis.

These super-drenched colour photographs are dark and shadowy, bristling with tension – a stark contrast with today’s sanitized, characterless C-System.

    Bruce Davidson Subway Series
Runs at Tate Modern, London until September 7th
