Episode image for Bute Street Symphony

Duration: 30 minutes

The children of Faith Primary in inner-city Liverpool have never heard of a viola, let alone played one. Then the kids, dinner ladies, teachers, school secretary Dot and headmistress Sister Moira are given a challenge - to perform alongside the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Can they pull off this performance of a lifetime? Could that performance change their lives?

This is the story of how Liverpool's world famous orchestra left its comfort zone to bring music and hope to one of Britain's most deprived estates.
