Simon Reeve continues his epic journey around the world following the Tropic of Cancer, the northern border of the tropics region.

Simon rejoins the Tropic of Cancer in Egypt and follows it through Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Oman. In Southern Egypt, next to the ancient temple of Abu Simbal, Simon meets Nubians struggling to maintain their culture following the damming of the Nile and dives in the pristine reefs of the Red Sea.

In Saudi Arabia, he goes racing with the Jeddah Boyz; and in Dubai he meets construction workers suffering in the economic downturn and he watches as rare baby green giant turtles start their own epic journeys as they head into the Arabian Sea from the beaches of Oman.

    Simon's guide at Abu Simbel is Nubian musician Fikry Kashef. Nubians - who are black Africans – built one of the earliest African civilisations along the Nile. As one of the few Nubians left in Abu Simbel, Fikry tries to keep Nubian culture alive by teaching traditional songs and music to Nubian children.

    Simon meets Ali the Lion, a nomadic tribesman from Egypt's Eastern Desert, who warns that climate change is causing drought and immense hardship among his people, many of whom are now leaving the desert and settling in slums on the edge of remote towns.

    In Saudi Arabia, Simon travels by train with his guide Danya Al-Hamrani, the first woman to found and own a TV production company in the country. Women still cannot drive or vote in Saudi Arabia, one of the most conservative countries in the region.

    At the Jeddah Raceway, Saudi Arabia, Simon meets Hossam Taieb, a professional driver, who allows Simon to take his Porsche 911 out for a spin on the raceway. Before the raceway opened major traffic accidents were common in Jeddah; with public roads used for illegal street races, as young men let off steam.

    In Oman, Simon travels across a stable, beautiful country packed with lush canyons. Just a day's drive from glitzy Dubai, Oman was once the centre of a great trading empire, ruling Zanzibar and parts of East Africa.

    Oman's Arabian Sea coastline is home to rare Green Turtles which drag themselves up the beach after years at sea to lay their eggs.
