Five Days, Series 2 Episode 3 of 5

Duration: 1 hour

A week on, and with no new leads, Laurie and Mal carry out a reconstruction of the events of that fateful day and this provides some surprising encounters. With baby Michael in danger, speculation is rife about the whereabouts of his parents. Laurie has an unsettling encounter with train driver Pat and starts to realise he might know more about the case than he first let on. Family tensions mount for Nusrat and Danny when they realise that their new visitor is hiding a very dangerous past.

  • Writer Gwyneth Hughes tells us more about day eight.

One week after a suspicious death, the police will run an "anniversary". You'll often see it on the TV news: the reconstruction using a young officer playing the part of the victim, the roadblocks, the television appeals for witnesses to come forward. The publicity value for the detective team is obvious, but I wanted to explore whether memories really can be jogged, and what real information can be mined this way.

  • DAY EIGHT: WHAT DID PAT SEE?

DAY EIGHT: WHAT DID PAT SEE?

Laurie (Suranne Jones) tries to work out what Pat (Steve Evets) thinks he saw on the bridge.
