Five Days, Series 2 Episode 1 of 5

Duration: 1 hour

Off-duty police officer Laurie Franklin finds herself caught up in a strange sequence of events after a person falls in front of her train.

When she learns that a newborn baby has been abandoned at the local hospital Laurie becomes convinced that the two events must be connected, but both the train's victim and the baby remain unidentified.

As she is drawn deeper into the mystery, Laurie realises this might not be a simple case of suicide at all, but something much darker.

  • Writer Gwyneth Hughes tells us more about day one.

We've all had that experience, where you're in a rush to get to an important appointment, and your train stops in the middle of nowhere for no apparent reason. Infuriating! I wanted to trap several of my leading characters on a train on a summer's day. People need to get to the hospital, to a job interview, or just to get out of the heat. Arguments break out, relationships begin... the story kicks off.
