Daniel has opened a newspaper in Candleford and is on the look out for a big story. So when old Peg Leg, a Crimean war veteran, arrives for his annual visit to the Timmins', and Daniel learns he has received no war pension, he starts a newspaper campaign against this injustice.

But just as Peg Leg's plight looks set to become a national cause celebre, Emma learns that he is not all he seems, a discovery that threatens to break hearts and destroy Daniel's new venture.

    Daniel prepares the first edition of The Candleford Chronicle but he’s yet to find his lead story. In Lark Rise, war veteran, Peg Leg makes his annual visit.

    Robert questions Daniel’s interest in Peg Leg. Thomas decides that he must distinguish himself.

    Emma discovers that Peg Leg is not all he seems, but will it affect Daniel’s campaign? Dorcas discovers Thomas’s initiative and she isn’t impressed.

  • Peg Leg’s Secret is Out

    Daniel, Robert and Emma can’t decide what to do about Peg Leg but Dorcas has a suggestion. Margaret makes Thomas see that the world is a better place with him in it.

  • Peg Leg’s Cry for Help

    Dorcas gets to the bottom of Laura’s reluctance to accept Daniel’s gift. Peg Leg finds it hard to accept help and Emma must accept that she did her best.
