Synopsis

Each week Aled Jones plays tracks from a broad musical spectrum, that celebrates both our choral traditions and the vibrant world of modern music as well as spiritually uplifting and reflective music. He also discusses religious and ethical issues of the week with faith representatives.

This week, Aled says Good Morning Sunday to "the bravest vicar in Britain", Extreme Pilgrim Peter Owen Jones. Charles Dickens' great great great granddaughter Lucinda Hawksley discusses his life and work from a faith perspective, and gives the Moment of Reflection.

Peter Owen Jones

Peter Owen Jones has been described as the bravest vicar in Britain - combining travel around the globe experiencing the world’s religions, with his day job as Anglican priest to 3 parishes in Sussex. Recently, Peter spent time living alone in a cave in the Sinai Desert, following in the footsteps of St Anthony, one of the founders of monasticism. While he was there, Peter – who is best known for his award-winning BBC television series – wrote letters to parents, children, lost loves – and even the prime minister.
Letters From An Extreme Pilgrim is published on 4th February, by Rider.

Faith Guest - Lucinda Hawksley

Charles Dickens is one of the best-loved authors in English literature, and since his death, his books have never been out of print. His novels highlighted what he saw to be the social injustices of his time and he worked tirelessly to change the conditions of the poorest in society.
Lucinda is Dickens' his great, great, great granddaughter. She is a writer and speaker, and gives talks on the Dickens family, the Pre-Raphaelites, art history and researching your family history. She has also won awards for her travel writing.
Dear Janette,

Lucinda's Moment Of Reflection was taken from a book called The Life Of Our Lord by Charles Dickens.

Sunday Spotlight - Hayley Oliver

The Sunday Spotlight falls this week on Hayley Oliver, whose song had such a response when Aled played it last week.
Hayley made her solo debut at the Royal Albert Hall aged 11 but while Hayley knew she wanted a career in music, she concentrated on her studies at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford and followed that with a business degree from the University of Glamorgan. Hayley's first love has always been country music, so when she won Joe Pasquale's "Curtain Call" talent showcase, it launched her adult career and she produced her first album. Hayley won the Evy of Canada Award for Best New Artist in 2007 and since then has been working with Nashville Writers and Producers on brand new material. Her second solo album “I can still dream” was released in October 2009.
Described as beautiful and haunting, Aled plays Be Love.
