1.6 million children in Britain today live in bad housing. In this DIY SOS special Nick Knowles and the team attempt to re-house a dad and four children who have spent four years stuck in a caravan in the garden of their one bed house.
Dad, Joe, and his four children are at crisis point after a succession of disasters have left them living in unsuitable conditions and no money to sort it out.
The mission is to build from foundations up an extension to make their one bed house suitable for all the family. In their biggest build yet DIY SOS have two weeks to build a three bed extension and renovate a whole house: kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms.
Nick Knowles and the boys also take a look at how some 'Children in Need' sponsored projects are helping with this nationwide problem.
