The Rev. Thomas Carmichael
The Reverend Thomas Carmichael has been Minister of Christ Church URC since 2007. An Engineer by trade he worked as a deep sea diver for many years before moving to South Africa where he was ordained in 1995.
In addition to his work at Christ Church he is also a Territorial Army Chaplain and Chaplain to Claire House Hospice for children and young people.
Reverend Carmichael is a School Governor at Church Drive Primary school and in the programme he talks to a group of schoolchildren about the meaning of Advent and the tradition of Advent calendars. -
Captain Val Hall
Val Hall has lived in Port Sunlight for 35 years with her husband Arthur who used to work at Unilever. She first became involved with Port Sunlight Boys' Brigade 28 years ago as a parent helper when her two sons joined the company. She progressed through the officer ranks to become Captain of the company. Val speaks about how her work with Boys' Brigade and how it has strengthened her faith. Boys' Brigade is a worldwide Christian Youth Organisation.

Karen Houghton
Karen Houghton was born in Port Sunlight and has lived in the area all of her life. She's a regular worshipper at Christ Church. She has spent fourteen years caring for her son Kyle who was born with dysplastic kidneys and in urgent need of a kidney transplant. In her interview Karen talks about how she has been guided and supported by prayer and her belief that Kyle is a gift from God who recognised in her the strength to look-after a sick child. Kyle and his twin brother Kieran also speak about their childhood memories and being twins!

Julia Whitehead
Julia Whitehead was born in Wirral but trained as a dancer and had a very successful career as a BLUEBELL, a TILLER GIRL and a ROCKETTE before returning home and being invited to join THE PORT SUNLIGHT PLAYERS as a choreographer. Since the late 1970s she has been writing and directing the annual Christmas Pantomime. Julia talks about how the Port Sunlight panto tradition began and about preparations for this year's production. We also meet other performers who are preparing to tread the boards at the village's historic Gladstone Theatre.
