Synopsis

A campaign is underway to make the government accept responsibility for the thalidomide tragedy. We meet some of the Welsh victims to find out how they are coping.

Thalidomide

Thalidomide led to the births of 10,000 deformed babies around the world.
Around half died within months and the rest have grown up with often severe disabilities.

What happened to them changed the way the rest of us live our lives.

Now in middle age, their bodies are showing signs of wear and tear.

They have lived longer than anticipated and now they’re fighting for more compensation to help them with the new challenges they face.
