Rebecca Pike

Rebecca provides business news and her weekly innovation slot to Simon Mayo, weekdays, 5-7pm

"Just before Easter, 2006, I got the call," says Rebecca. "Can you come to Radio 2 and audition to be the Business Presenter on Chris Evans' new show?"

Ever since someone first asked me what I wanted to do, the answer has been "a journalist" Rebecca Pike

"And so began an amazing adventure which - would you believe it - is still going strong after all these years, now with Simon Mayo.

"It wasn't the most obvious place to land. Ever since someone first asked me what I wanted to do, the answer has been "a journalist" - and by that I meant a hard-bitten war correspondent in combat trousers and army fatigues.

"Little did I know I would end up presenting in a bikini in a hot-tub or trying to conduct an interview while being bitten on the arm by Bono.

"It was several years though, before I was waylaid. At school I edited a rather earnest magazine and at Oxford University I set up a Time Out-style listings guide with friends.

"I then worked as a reporter at the Express and Star newspaper in Wolverhampton and the Daily Telegraph in London, before joining the BBC as a News Trainee.

"Since then I've worked as a producer on many of the BBC's news outlets, and as a business reporter on the Today Programme and Six O'Clock News on Radio 4, Breakfast News, the News Channel and BBC One's TV bulletins.

"I've also done a stint as the main presenter on BBC Radio 5 live's Wake up to Money programme.

"I'm married with a young son and daughter, live in London, and my favourite pastimes are big Sunday lunches with friends and watching the latest HBO series on TV."
