Synopsis

Down and out in Bristol. Josie d'Arby investigates whether some of the city's most vulnerable residents are being let down by poor support services. She asks if enough is being done to help homeless alcoholics to rebuild their lives.

Plus Andy Batten-Foster, the former producer of the BBC's 999 series, tells the story of his own 999 emergency that nearly cost him his life. Struck down by meningitis, his family were told to prepare for the worst. Now, having made a remarkable recovery, Andy wants to know what progress is being made in the work to develop a vaccine.

And a glimpse behind the scenes of BBC Radio 4's long running drama series The Archers. Agricultural story editor Graham Harvey reveals that the fictional village of Ambridge draws its inspiration from real-life farming communities in Somerset.
