Synopsis

Terry Wogan launches Radio 2's 'Money Can't Buy' auction to raise money for the 2009 BBC Children in Need Appeal. The auction is held between 8.00-9.00am every morning and runs over four days.

The first Radio 2 auction for Children in Need was held in 1985, with auctioneer Paul Viney and Roger Royle overseeing proceedings. This November, Paul Viney returns for his 25th year and it's Terry's last ever auction as presenter of Radio 2's breakfast show.

Monday, 16th November: Today Terry's auction packages include:

A once in a life time opportunity to have your own private tour of the Eden Project where, after a candlelit dinner with spectacular views over Cornwall, you'll spend the night in one of the Eden Project's fabulous Biomes.

A chance to cruise with the stars and mix with the VIPs at the naming ceremony of the new luxury liner - The Azura. This package includes a 16 night cruise from Southampton taking in Malaga, Katakolon, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Venice, Korcula and Gibraltar. Also, while on board, you'll have drinks with wine expert Olly Smith and Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar.

A private tour of Lords Cricket Ground and coaching session for six people with former England Cricket Captain Kevin Pietersen. Enjoy lunch too.

A very special trip to the Lake District with presenter Julia Bradbury and the Wainwright Walks team.

A private performance by Aled Jones and the stunningly talented Sharon Corr.

Call 0500 22 11 22 to make a bid. Calls are free from most landlines. Some networks and mobile operators will charge for your call.

Auction Packages for the rest of the week include:

On Tuesday 17th November: Bid for the chance to fly with the Blades aerobatic team alongside the world's only airborne Vulcan; an exclusive wedding package from three fabulous British Designers (Jeff Banks, Ritva Westenius & Jimmy Choo) or a day on set with the Gardeners' World team.

On Wednesday 18th November: A luxury make-over with the fashion expert Gok Wan is up for auction! So is a glimpse behind-the-scenes during filming of 'Lark Rise to Candleford'; a VIP lunch with three national treasures - Maureen Lipman, Michael Palin and Sir Terry Wogan; and there's a chance for someone to steam ahead from London to York by riding on the footplate of The Tornado (the only steam locomotive to be built in Britain since 1960).

On Thursday 19th November: Terry rounds off his last 'Money Can't Buy' auction for Children in Need as Radio 2's breakfast show presenter. He gives listeners the chance to bid to spend a day on set during filming of the new series of 'Marple' with Julia McKenzie and be a supporting actor! Other lots on offer include help from the expert genealogists behind BBC TV's 'Who Do You Think You Are?'; dinner with Westlife or the legendary Chef Raymond Blanc (these are two separate lots); and there's a treat for fans of Six Nations Rugby.

RADIO 2'S MUSIC MARATHON
On Friday 20th November the whole station gets involved to raise more money for the charity with Radio 2's Music Marathon. It starts with Sarah Kennedy at 6am and concludes at 7pm with Chris Evans. During Radio 2's Music Marathon for Children in Need, listeners pledge money to have a chance to hear their favourite song played by their favourite Radio 2 DJ.

BBC Children in Need's mission is to make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Last year, Radio 2 listeners helped raise an incredible £2m and this money will support organisations working with children who have mental, physical or sensory disabilities; behavioural or psychological disorders; are living in poverty or situations of deprivation; or suffering through distress, abuse or neglect.
