Synopsis

Joining Jools on the show is rapper Jay-Z, who is currently on top of his game with the release of his new album The Blueprint 3, from which he performs tracks.

Foo Fighters, who celebrate their career so far with a greatest hits compilation, perform a few gems in the studio. Norah Jones returns to the programme to showcase numbers from her latest album The Fall, and fresh from being a Policeman again, Sting plays a song from his new winter-themed record If on a Winter's Night.

At the other end of the sales scale, but just as essential to the show's mix, Oxford's unsigned indie-folk faves Stornoway make their Later... debut after enchanting those who saw them on the BBC's Glastonbury coverage. Plus, unique talent Erik Mongrain from Montreal displays his distinctive 'lap-tapping' technique.

Jools also chats with legendary drummer Ginger Baker about his new autobiography Hellraiser.
