Dance duo Air host a very special French themed 6 Mix featuring a brand new hour long DJ set from the Versailles based producers.
AIR – whose moniker is the acronym of Amour, Imagination, Rêve (or Love, Imagination, Dream in English) - are Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel. Formed in 1995, the band have spent the last 15 years pioneering the new wave of French based synthesiser music. Their seminal 1998 album ‘Moon Safari’ defined the late 90s chillout scene, whilst in the recent years have collaborated with Françoise Hardy and Beck. In this programme the duo talk about their influences, the music which bought them together and their brand new album ‘Love 2’, which explores the prog rock side of their music. Continuing the show’s French theme, in the first hour there’s a mix from Dijon DJ Vitalic. Vitalic, whose new album ‘Flashmob’ has been hailed as one of 2009’s best dance releases, plays a intoxicating mix of electro house and disco, best shown by the single ‘Poison Lips’ which has been ripping up dancefloors all over Europe.
