Synopsis

Chris discovers everything you really need to know about the Encyclopaedia Britannica. And after a weekend walking about in the fresh air, why does Chris feel so fatigued?

Rule Britannica!

Just one and a half days left before Sir Tel and Chris take their seats on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” in an attempt to raise money for Children in Need and Chase Hospice for Kids! Chris has been cramming his brain with general knowledge, factoids, geography, history and sport in the hope of becoming a walking Encyclopaedic Machine. So what more can he do between now and Wednesday? So is it to cram or not to cram? Ted Pappas Executive editor and Chief Development Officer for Encyclopaedia Britannica tell Chris.

Fresh Air Fatigue...

After a whole day spent in the Whitstable fresh air Chris slept like a baby in the car on the way home and has found himself feeling fabulously refreshed today! So was it all that fresh air? And why does being outside on a crisp, cold day make us feel tired? GP Dr Dawn Harper told us if fresh air really make us flag?

Monday 9 November - Question

Why are clothes and dress sizes in even numbers? Leon Lewis, Birmingham

Monday 9 November - Answer

It's an industry standard - first laid down by the British Standards Institution in 1963. It comes from the fact that it's cheaper for manufacturers to make clothes only in even sizes than to go for all sizes - because fewer patterns are required. Besides, the difference between each size is usually only a couple of inches on the bust, waist and hips, so it's likely that most people will find a size to fit them. Having said all that, certain retailers do also make clothes in odd numbers as well - and you also get more and more shops sizing their clothes in ones, twos, threes; and CHILDREN'S dresses and coats come in three, five, seven, nine and so-on. All very confusing, as well as the fact that the dimensions of each size are not all the same... And it's something that the European Union is working on standardising.
