   Thomson defends a £260 claim made by a member of production staff for an end-of-series Apprentice party, and says similar expenses are par for the course in the world of entertainment.

5. Chapter 5

   Adding the Ashes to the 'crown jewels'

   It's understood home Ashes series will be added to the "crown jewels" of sporting events alongside the likes of the World Cup, the Olympics and Wimble­don, along with more football internationals.

   BBC Callers: Claire, Jane & Peter

   Claire thinks the BBC has the best programming in the world, and Peter tends to agree. But Jane thinks claiming for parties shows a disregard for money and a disrespect to the audience.
