Synopsis

Chris puts his feet up and talks reclining chairs with the managing director of La-Z-Boy UK. And he investigates whether we can really map moods and navigate around our emotions.

Armchair Supporter...

Ever seen that hilarious episode of Friends where Joey and Chandler kick back in their recliners to watch the play offs? Well it got us to thinking, "we'd like one of those" so we decided to look into the origins of the classic La-z-boy chair. So we got the low down form the easy going Dave Winter, managing director of La-z-boy UK and the country’s leading authority on this iconic piece of furniture.

Monday 2 November - Question

Did the Daily Mail really buy a Euro Millions lottery ticket for every one of its readers on Saturday? If they did, did they get a discount?

Monday 2 November - Answer

I've had a quick word with the Chief Marketing Officer at the Daily Mail - a man called Roland Agambar - and he says they put 3.2 million game cards inside every copy of the paper on Saturday, but he wouldn't tell me whether they got a discount. I'm going to guess that they must have got a pretty big discount though, because he wouldn't tell me how much the promotion cost, but WOULD say that with an increase in circulation of 200,000 - or eight per cent - on their normal Saturday sales of just over three million, it was worth their while. He also said that it was a rollover last Saturday and that they would be repeating the promotion next Saturday, with another 3.2 million game cards.
