Synopsis

Chris goes 'scouting for girls' with Bear Grylls. Plus in our second instalment on Speed Reading, we tease more top tips out of the current world record holder Anne Jones.

BEAR SCOUTS

At 23, born survivor Bear Grylls entered the Guinness Book of World records as the youngest Briton to climb Mount Everest. This year he was named Chief Scout and today he talks with Chris about the lack of Scout Leaders and the 33,000 kids on the waiting list wanting to join.

CALL OF THE WILD 2

The Giraffe Man Ryan Hockly returned to answer our most pressing question: Is it true that our favourite long-necked friend has a tongue so long that it can clean it's own ear with it?

SPEEDY READS 2

Yesterday we got up to speed with six times World Speed Reading Champion who told us how novel it can be to beat the book even faster than the film. But can anyone learn the tricks behind quick flick through? Anne Jones thinks they can, and is back to tell us how…

Wednesday 30 September - Question

Can you tell me how many of Chris's listeners like myself are actually on their way TO work rather than on the drive home? I am a night veterinary nurse and enjoy Chris as my breakfast show and Sir Terry as my drivetime show. Could a show be dedicated to us one day please? Mel Thomason, Cambridgeshire

Wednesday 30 September - Answer

29 million people work in the UK and there are 5.5 million people who listen to this show. I have calculated the number of people who work, who also listen to the show, is 2.9 million people. If you consider that there are four million people working at night, maintaining the same proportions, the number of those for whom Chris is ALREADY the breakfast show is 400,000.
