Episode 18 of 30, Gardeners' World, 2009/2010

Duration: 30 minutes

Toby Buckland plans for next spring when he plants out a capsule wardrobe of daffodils to keep the colour coming from February through to May next year. As well as giving the low down on what varieties to buy, Toby shows how and where to plant them in borders and in pots to get the most impact.

While Toby plans for spring, Alys also looks ahead when she shows us how to cheat the season by having spring bulbs in flower to grace the Christmas dinner table and to give away as presents.

Carol, however, is very much in the present when she celebrates the bulbs at Glebe Cottage, which are reaching their peak right now.

And the BBC Gardener of the Year competition continues when the garden of our second finalist is revealed and they complete their planting and propagation challenge.
