Helen Needham meets the organisers of the Etive River Race and witnesses some dramatic paddling stunts. Listen to Out of Doors to find out more!BBC Scotland Outdoors
In a frosty field, he found a silver
shiver, a fallen star, a glimmer
of hope, the smallest,silent sliver,
a shimmer of translucent jelly.
He rescued this elusive glass
for often he had seen frozen wraiths,
full of cracks and lines, a solid mass,
only to return and find muddy earth.
He froze it, for fear it might disappear
and displayed it. It was pressed,
prodded and analysed, his souvenir,
until they took its essence and stressed
It was not a fallen star, not magic
but the ova of a dead frog, logic.
