A Short History of Ireland

In 1939 a divided Ireland held her breath on the brink of the Second World War.

Almost a quarter of a century later she swayed on the edge of a fresh conflict – Terence O’Neill was the new Prime Minister of Northern Ireland and the Troubles were just around the corner.

What happened in the years between these two great turning points? ‘A Short History of Ireland’ brings the events, the leading characters and the ordinary people to life.

The series is written by Dr. Jonathan Bardon.

The readers are Cherrie McIlwaine, Patrick FitzSymons, Sean Crummey and Dr. Jonathan Bardon.
