Synopsis

Claire Martin introduces two contrasting sessions from the Erin Arts Centre on the Isle of Man.

Radio 3 New Generation jazz artist Tom Arthurs (trumpet and flugel) teams up with saxophonist and composer Iain Ballamy and Norwegian percussionist Thomas Stronen for a totally improvised session before an audience on a theme set on the day.

Then top UK jazz pianist Gareth Williams performs some jazz standards as well as his own compositions. Gareth has released a new album with his Power Trio of keyboards, bass and drums launched at Ronnie Scott's. On this occasion, he has the space to express himself in a solo gig.
