Peter Capaldi, most recently seen as foul-mouthed spin doctor Malcolm Tucker in Armando Iannucci’s ‘In the Loop’ and ‘The Thick of It’, has turned his hand to directing the comedy drama ‘Getting On’, a three part series which is part of BBC Four’s Grey Expectations Season beginning Wednesday 8 July.

Emma Freud’s our intrepid interviewer this week, hunting for culinary delights with forager, chef and fisherman Valentine Warner. Valentine’s new series ‘What To Eat Now’ begins Monday 6 July, 20.30pm on BBC Two. His new book 'What To Eat Now - More Please!', featuring the Spring and Summer recipes from the television series, is out now, published by Octopus.

Keith Farnan returns to Loose Ends to provide some more thought provoking comedy. After last year's triumph at the Edinburgh festival, a show about the death penalty, his latest, tackles racism and religiosity head on. ‘No Blacks. No Jews. No Dogs. No Irish. All Welcome’ is at the Underbelly, Edinburgh from Thursday 6 to Sunday 30 August.

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble

Music from Chicago’s Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, eight horns and a drum kit from eight brothers, all sons of jazz great and Sun Ra collaborator Kelan Philip Cochran. Performing the track ‘War’, they play UK festivals throughout the summer, including Lovebox Weekender, Womad and The Big Chill.

Hafdis Huld

And the sound of young Iceland, Hafdis Huld, performs latest single ‘Kongulu’. Currently on tour, she is playing Chester on Saturday 4, Halifax Thursday 9th and playing the Secret Garden Party on Saturday 25 July.
