  • 5 Reasons To Go Out & About

    Famous for his giant inflatable silver bunnies and over sized puppy dogs made out of flowers, next week sees the first solo exhibition in a British gallery of American artist Jeff Koons. This free exhibition at the Serpertine Gallery London will show paintings and sculptures from his on going Popeye series.
    The Biggin Hill Air Fair this weekend caters for more than just the aircraft enthusiast – there’s vintage and classic cars, craft stands, bouncy castles, quad bikes and much more. But if planes are your thing and you want to know how a harrier flies you can meet the pilots in person.

    The Isle of Man Queenie Festival starts on Monday celebrating the local delicacy of the Manx Queenie – that’s the local name for the Queen Scallop. The festival includes celebrity chef demonstrations, plenty of tastings as well as storytelling by actors set around beach bonfires accompanied by classic seafood bbqs.
    The Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition has over 20 interactive exhibits covering topics from how fluorescent fish could provide better understanding of human diseases, to a chewing robot that can help us develop dental technology - there’s plenty to learn at this free exhibition which opens on Tuesday.
    The streets of Belfast will fill with colour, dance and drumming tomorrow for the annual Belfast City Carnival with giant floats, big stilt-costumes and hundreds of performers parading through the city centre.
