Synopsis

Radio 3 at the Summer Festivals

In a performance from the Bath International Music Festival 2009, Martin Handley presents the Leopold Trio playing string trios by Beethoven and Mozart, as well as String Trio Le Chimay, a rarity by Belgian composer Ysaye. The work takes its subtitle from a place in Belgium, the home of the princes of Chimay, who in the 19th century played a prominent role in the Belgian and international music world.

Isabelle van Keulen (violin)
Lawrence Power (viola)
Kate Gould (cello)

Beethoven: String Trio in D, Op 9, No 2
Ysaye: String Trio (Le Chimay)
Mozart: Divertimento in E flat, K563

Followed by performances from winners of the Cardiff Singer of the World, including Strauss' Morgen, performed by Elizabeth Watts.
