Synopsis

Shot on the eve of the Lions' rugby union tour to South Africa, The Lions' Roar focuses on the sporting and social impact of the 1974 Lions tour to the same country.

Featuring previously unseen archive footage, the programme reveals how Gareth Edwards, Phil Bennett, JJ Williams and the rest became heroes to black fans living under apartheid - two of whom would later shape the current Springboks. Narrated by Eddie Butler.
