Duration: 1 hour

Kate Silverton and Justin Rowlatt present a series of programmes on the ups and downs of the property market rollercoaster.

Kate and Justin ask why Brits are so obsessed with property and whether the recession will change the relationships of the British with their homes for good. Andrew Verity catches up with those who bought at the peak of the market to see if they have any regrets. He meets George, who has made and lost a fortune in property and is finding it tough being a buy-to-let landlord.

Justin looks at the pros and cons of renting and meets rent surfers like Gemma in Bournemouth, who have sold up and are renting through the downturn. The programme also hears from those who have exported the British property dream to the hills of Provence, and asks whether they have also transported a very British boom and bust mentality.
