While the elite athletes are crossing the line, further back on the course will be the thousands of fun runners who have come from all over the world to take part in one of sport's ultimate tests of endurance and to raise money for worthy causes. An estimated 300 million pounds has been raised for charity since the first London Marathon in 1981.
