Synopsis
Each week Aled Jones plays tracks from a broad musical spectrum that celebrates our choral traditions and the vibrant world of modern music, as well as spiritually uplifting and reflective music. He also discusses religious and ethical issues of the week with faith representatives. This week, Aled says Good Morning Sunday to Chris de Burgh as he releases an album of his favourite songs and performs two of them especially for the show. Plus Sarfraz Manzoor discusses the week's news from a faith perspective and gives the Moment of Reflection.
Chris de Burgh
Singer-songwriter Chris de Burgh recently popped into the studio to chat to Aled about his latest album, Footsteps, and to perform some of his favourite tracks. The album contains songs that have inspired and influenced him over the years, the songs he has sung live many times all over the world. Chris talks about the how his international upbringing has influenced him, and how deeply his faith impacts on his music.
Sunday Spotlight - Steve Knightley
This week's Spotlight falls upon singer songwriter Steve Knightley who releases a new album called "Track of words - Retraced" next Month. On it, he revisits many of the songs from his first solo album which was released ten years ago and to which he has added what he calls "subtext". Steve Knightley is one half of the duo "Show of hands" and he has been playing guitar and mandolin since the age of 14.
Faith Guest - Sarfraz Manzoor
Sarfraz Manzoor is a writer, broadcaster, documentary film maker and cultural commentator. He came to England with his family as a young boy and was brought up near Luton. He graduated with a degree in economics and politics from Manchester University . He is a regular contributor to The Guardian and appears on a variety of radio and television programmes including Question time and Today. He has been a occasional presenter and critic on Radio 2's The Weekender.
