Episode 8 of 8

Duration: 29 minutes

Series looking at building planning processes.

Planners investigate a new building which has been built without permission on greenbelt land. The owner was grassed up by his neighbour, and Head of Enforcement Joe Henry comes to see what's going on. Is Ken Bowman really building a store for hay as he claims, or is it too much like a house for Joe's liking? If it's the latter, then it may have to come down.

In east London, the Ranahs also thought that planning permission wasn't an issue when work began on their much longed-for kitchen extension. Enforcement Officer John Ayers thinks otherwise. With work virtually complete, the family can only nervously await the planning department's decision. Two years of scrimping and saving will be for nothing if the planners say no.

Gaetano Maddalena also has big plans for developing his house, but next-door neighbour and fellow Sicilian Agostino Millitello just wants a quiet life. Sparks fly when the two men go head-to-head in a planning committee meeting.
