Episode 2 of 30, Gardeners' World, 2009/2010

Duration: 59 minutes

Gardening magazine.

Toby and the team launch the Dig In campaign, which aims to encourage the nation to grow its own grub. He's out and about in Birmingham with the customised Dig In ice-cream van, giving free seed packets to keen members of the public and planting up colourful containers in preparation for the Easter weekend.

Carol Klein visits a school in Lewisham which is part of an RHS initiative to encourage the growing of fresh fruit and vegetables in schools across the country. Joe Swift calls in on an inspirational allotment site in St Helens, and also an innovative new horticultural business specialising in supplying ready-to-grow vegetable gardens through the post.

Back at Greenacre, thrifty gardener Alys Fowler helps Toby get the city veg garden started and sows the first batch of sunflowers for the urban meadow project.
