Tom Morton’s Schooldays are not over! BBC Radio Scotland’s Tom Morton
goes back to the classroom to broadcast live from this year’s ‘Soundtown Studio’ at Alva Academy in Clackmannanshire.

Tom Morton better look sharp! Two Alva Academy pupils desperate for their break into broadcasting will take over to co-present part of his show.

Radio Scotland’s daily afternoon music show, hosted by Tom Morton will come live from the Alva Soundtown school studio on Thursday 12th March. Two pupils will co-present the show with Tom, having been chosen to represent the school as would-be DJs. “I’m hoping they won’t be too good” said a worried Tom. “Broadcasters are always looking over their shoulders for the threat from up and coming talent!” Also playing live on national radio will be the award winning Alva band ‘Haven’ (they recently won 1st prize at the annual Clackmannanshire awards for outstanding achievement to the arts) and Alva Academy Rock band.

That’s not all. Teams of pupils and teachers will battle it out in Classroom Clash to see who has done their homework and knows most about pop music.

AND…….Teachers Get Detention………..to gain their release they must rise to the challenge of learning to play a tune on an unfamiliar musical instrument in under two hours. Will they be good enough to convince the panel of judges (the pupils!) to release them??
